Luminous, stately orchestral pop from one of Iceland’s loveliest pop stars
Rousing, otherworldly, outlandish.
The celestial voice of Iceland’s Emiliana Torrini is enough, by itself, to enchant utterly. You might recognize her from The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, on which she sang ‘Gollum’s Song’.
For Concrete & Grass, she’ll be playing with the playful classical mad scientists of the ‘Colorist Orchestra’, who add a sweeping layer of strings, synths and woodwinds.
The powerful solitude of Torrini’s voice – breathing, floating, weaving – is given an eccentric companion here. Joy and power, coiled with bittersweet lyrics and a hint of dark sensuality. These are songs that fly in the air with the lightness of a feather. Minimalist pop music at its finest. The Colorist and Torrini are sweet and stately, leaving just enough silence between the notes to draw you giddily into their world.
A beautiful evening of painting with music.
